The Best Films

Alfred Hitchcock
Vertigo

Although panned by some critics following its cinema release in 1958, Vertigo is now more often than not, near the top of any best film list.
The plot now seems somewhat contrived and caused confusion in audiences who weren’t used to a film’s mystery being solved early in the film. Hitchcock was not interested in the mystery as such – he was interested in the psychology of a male who wants to re-shape a woman to be like a dead woman that he has loved.
